MYOLIFE|Bodywork & Massage, PLLC
Policy and Procedure Statement
Vancouver, Washington
Introduction
At MYOLIFE|Bodywork & Massage, PLLC, our commitment is to provide professional, safe, and ethical massage therapy services. We adhere to the highest standards of practice, ensuring that every client experiences respectful care and complete privacy during their treatments.
Scope of Services and Professional Boundaries
• Nature of Massage Therapy:
Our massage therapy is a health and wellness service designed to promote relaxation, relieve tension, and support overall well-being. Massage is not sexual in nature.
• Scope of Practice:
Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) at this practice are trained to provide therapeutic massage within the boundaries of their expertise. They cannot diagnose diseases or treat conditions beyond the scope of massage therapy. Clients should continue to follow any treatment or therapy prescribed by their Primary Care Provider (PCP).
• Consent and Professional Boundaries:
All services are provided on a strictly professional basis. Prior to any session, informed consent is obtained. Both the client and the therapist are expected to maintain professional boundaries throughout the treatment process.
Client Rights and Session Termination
• Right to Terminate:
Both clients and therapists have the right to terminate a session at any time if either party feels uncomfortable or if the treatment is not meeting the client’s needs.
• Therapist-Initiated Termination: If a therapist terminates a session, no refund will be issued.
• Client-Initiated Termination: Terminating a session does not automatically qualify the client for a refund. A refund may only be considered if the session is terminated due to an emergency situation, which must be corroborated by documentation at the therapist’s request. If the session is terminated on a whim, no refund will be issued, and the card on file will be charged as agreed upon during the booking process.
• Cancellation Policy:
Clients are asked to notify the office at least 12 hours or more in advance if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee, as detailed in our appointment policies.
Health and Safety Guidelines
• Client Responsibility:
Clients are responsible for informing their therapist of any relevant health conditions, injuries, or concerns prior to treatment. This information helps ensure the safest and most effective therapy possible.
• Medical Disclaimer:
Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment. Clients are encouraged to consult with their PCP regarding any medical issues or conditions. Our services are intended to complement, not replace, any other therapy prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Confidentiality, Privacy, and Information Security
• Client Privacy:
All clients are entitled to full privacy during their treatments. We strictly adhere to confidentiality protocols and will not disclose personal information about clients unless required by law in accordance with local, state, and Federal regulations.
